Market Expansion

Some bloggers have the view that Big Pharma is trying to turn everyone into patients.

Insider would beg to differ. Not everyone.........only those with the ability to pay!

Interesting chart. When I was a student nurse, *many* years ago, a reasonable bloodpressure was, roughtly speaking, systolic pressure: 100 + your age. Diastolic pressure was normal from 70-90 and you'd start getting a bit nervous if it went over 100. Now, people, especially younger doctors, seem to get nervous if you have a 130/90 reading... which, IMO is quite normal and actually pretty damned good if you're 55.

100 plus your age = systolic was my training mantra also!

I read in the BMJ recently that the new BP and cholesterol targets will turn 90% of people over 55 into "patients"!

The Seattle Times has run a couple of big pieces on this.
