For Big Pharma astroturfing means developing artificial "grassroots" support for a disease or a treatment. This can be via individual postings on websites, chatrooms etc. or by the secret formation or funding of "concerned citizen action groups".
So, would it come as a big surprise to find that support and advice groups for parents of children with so-called "behavioural disorders" are being secretly funded by pharmaceutical firms that sell drugs to treat these problems?
