European rivals have accused Pfizer of trying to dominate the EU market through anti-competitive ploys.
Trade body EAEPC lodged a complaint with the European commission alleging Pfizer was breaking EU competition law by preventing the export of medicines from Spain to other member states. Its president, Hans Bogh-Sorensen, said: "We are submitting to the commission an open and shut case."
The body accused Pfizer of operating a dual-pricing system through its control of Spanish wholesalers and alleged it planned to extend its control to other EU states.
