Drug reps - really, what IS the point?

Recent marketing studies suggest that 35% of US doctors are now considered “no see/no access” to Big Pharma drug reps.

Indeed, 63% would stop seeing reps altogether if they didn’t bring samples.

And only 30% of meetings with reps are considered by doctors to be helpful

Yet they only remember 15% of messages delivered.

This expensive farce must soon come to an end!
Let's all speed the process up.
MDs - just say "no" to drug reps.
Use the image above to make office posters.
Patients - ask your doctor if they see reps.
If they say yes, then switch doctors.

And...stop marketing under the cover of CME.

I won't go to an MD who doesn't see reps, at least I know they have have current information presented to them. They are intelligent enough to determine the validity of the information. No MD has enough time to read the journals these days..if they are honest about their time utilization.

If you are so weak of mind and spirit and can be unduly influence by reps...sign the "pledge".

I overheard a physician telling a patient to split a capsule in half that uses OROS delivery system. I made faces at him and he called me into a room. I explained the OROS system to him and he told me he needed to start listening to his reps.

I had another physician stroll into a lunch and say "Oh, new drug." I told him no, it's been out for about 3 years. (He must have missed that months journal.)

Competent doctors at least listen to what reps have to way. Those that don't, are not up to date.
