Novo Nordisk - Psst, got oil? Want food?

Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk has received a US Securities and Exchange subpoena requesting documents related to the United Nations oil-for-food programme, introduced in 1996 to help the citizens of Iraqi after sanctions were slammed on Saddam Hussein's government.

The world's number one maker of insulin said in a statement that is intends to fully cooperate with the investigation, and pointed out that several other companies have been hit with similar action.

A UN probe last year accused more than 2,000 firms and individuals of taking part in kickbacks and corruption under the programme.
