A 10-person jury - five of them casino-hotel workers - was picked on Wednesday to hear the cases of two men who blame Merck & Co. and its withdrawn arthritis drug Vioxx for their heart attacks.
The trial, which consolidates the two cases into one, is the sixth in an ongoing legal battle over the blockbuster pain reliever that was pulled from the market in 2004 after a study linked it to increased risk of heart attacks and strokes with long-term use.
Merck has won two of the cases and lost one so far.
