German pharmaceuticals company Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH Tuesday said it doesn't plan to buy a major rival, such as Altana AG (AAA) or Serono .
"We don't need the revenue. It's not our strategy to buy companies of such a size," said Alessandro Banchi, chairman of the board of managing directors, at the company's annual general meeting.

How can Boehringer be the "prey" when they are a privately held company?

Takover specialists love "family firms".....it's soooo easy to divide and conquer!
I'm sure if they were thinking of selling, they would have sold out to Pfizer a few years ago when they were working on the Spiriva agreement.
If Pfizer couldn't do it back in those days, I doubt any other company will be able to "court" the Boehringer family into selling.
