These two stories (here and here) would seem to suggest that the legal trade in opium may be moving from growers in Tasmania to those in Afghanistan.
Opium is the base used for making the painkillers morphine and diamorphine (given the brandname Heroin by Bayer).

Judging by these two pictures the Afghan crop looks much healthier!
