Merck said this week that the head of its U.S. drug operations, Bradley Sheares, has left the drug maker.
A spokesman for Merck said employees had been informed in an internal memorandum that Sheares, who several years ago had been considered a leading candidate to become Merck's chief executive officer, was no longer working for the U.S. company.
"He is leaving immediately," said the spokesman, who was not able to provide reasons for Sheares' departure or other details.
Sheares, who became Merck's president of U.S. human health in 2001, could not be reached for comment.
He had worked with Merck for almost 20 years.
Is he joining PharmaGossip? Not yet.
Hey Brad, if you get bored do get in touch.
