Louisiana will receive $1.1 million as part of a settlement with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. in an antitrust case over an anti-anxiety medication, the attorney general's office announced Friday.
The settlement was reached in 2003, and Louisiana consumers who had taken Buspar or its generic equivalent already have received $759,000 separately, according to Attorney General Charles Foti.
The $1.1 million received by Louisiana will go to state health programs.
The antitrust case was filed in New York, alleging that Bristol-Myers Squibb engaged in fraudulent conduct and conspired to maintain a monopoly over the sale of the drugs.
