Ligand CEO loosens binding

David Robinson (pic) has resigned as Ligand's chairman, president, chief executive officer and a director with the company, effective immediately.

San Diego-based Ligand said Robinson left to pursue other opportunities following consultation with its board. The company named Henry Blissenbach chairman and interim CEO, also effective immediately.

The company also said it plans to start a search for a new CEO, and that it expects to complete the search "in a timely manner."
