Sanofi Aventis - Acomplia: "It's begining to look a lot like Christmas"
Sanofi-Aventis says still expects it can launch its anti-obesity pill Acomplia in the United States before the end of this year, the French drugmaker said on Wednesday.
"We are still hopeful and confident we can launch Acomplia before the end of 2006 in the U.S.," Hanspeter Spek, head of pharmaceutical operations, said during a conference call.
U.S. health authorities are still scrutinizing the drug for marketing approval. Spek expected to launch Acomplia in Germany in the next three weeks. They began (very quietly) selling Acomplia in the UK at the end of June.
