Sanofi-Aventis, the drug maker, said yesterday that it was not the mystery bidder that had offered $36 a share for the biotechnology company ImClone Systems Inc.
“Sanofi has not made an offer for ImClone and does not intend to make one,” a spokesman, Jean-Marc Podvin, said yesterday in a telephone interview. He declined to comment on a report in The New York Times identifying the company, which is based in Paris, as the bidder.
