Drug reps - ask not for whom the bell tolls

The comments section accompanying this article is particularly interesting. I really had no idea the high regard people have for detailers. Or maybe that they have for themselves.

For doctors, "detailers" as they are they called originally the pharmaceutical sales rep, have always been an "necessary evil". They did and still do some useful function to the doctors so they are willing to expose themselves to the "torture" that big pharma prepare for them and deliver via detailers, be it good, bad or ugly. Lately they try to get them to be good ( read very, very pretty) as we have seen on blogs. As the big pharma reduce the goodies they can hand out, be it on their own or by being forced by external element, the doctors will close their offices even more. As figured out by this doc calls from drug reps cost him $$ and considering the multiple sales forces all big pharma employ, that could be lot of wasted $$ for every doc. Imagine, 5-10 reps from same Co calling on you on regular basis, selling you the very same drug over and over again. Some reps are charged to see you (important doc) every week or so, just ot keep you "warm" and nicely brainwashed. It is a miracle that this situation lasted for so long.
So detailers, update your CV's, patients get ready for easier time to see your docs, docs get ready for more $$ and better, wiser, more appropriate use of drugs in general.
US democracy remove the grip these mega companies got on you before it is too late.
