AstraZeneca catch a bad case of Pfizeritis - 3,000 jobs to go

AstraZeneca met forecasts with a 28% jump in 2006 profits but predicted slower growth for the current year and have announced plans to cut 3,000 jobs.

They plan to buy back $4 billion in shares during 2007.

Maybe AZ can cut them a deal on Seroquel to help them cope with their loss. After, all AZ is trying to push Seroquel as a treatment for nearly every mental condition under the sun.

Or, better yet, AZ could work on developing some new meds that provide a substantial clinical benefit.

Nah, too much creativity required...
