Back (passage) story here.
GSK has won the right to sell alli in the US as an OTC weight loss aid. The FDA approved the OTC sale of Alli, (aka orlistat / Xenical ), which prevents the intestine from absorbing some fat, for use in adults aged 18 years and older.
So who will be ideal candidates for alli? The blurb tells us:
Ideal candidates are individuals who are overweight and are motivated and ready to make lifestyle changes. They have realistic expectations for gradual, modest weight loss. These individuals are committed to a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet (no more than 15 grams of fat per meal) and eating smaller portions.
An ideal candidate for alli will read and follow the label directions.
They understand that treatment effects (loose or more frequent stools that may be hard to control, an urgent need to go to the bathroom, gas with oily spotting) can occur if they eat too much fat in a meal while taking alli.
Lastly, these individuals will make the time to be more physically active.

So could the ideal candidate be GSK's own marketing guy, Steve Burton, perhaps?
"I'll never forget having a fish sandwich and loading it up with tartar sauce and having French fries," Burton recalled. "I actually discharged some oil." Luckily for Burton, what he refers to as his "classic oops" episode happened on a Saturday when he was doing errands, not during an important meeting. So he went home to change clothes.
Enjoy your next Happy Meal!
Oh, and by the way. The UK Summary of Product Characteristics for orlistat has just been updated by the manufacturers to draw attention to a drug interaction with the contraceptive pill.
The interaction is not a direct drug-drug interaction however it seems that indirectly orlistat can reduce the availability of OC's.
Additional contraceptive methods are recommended, especially in cases of severe diarrhoea!
Eww!
Insider cant imagine many womens thoughts will be on the old "horizontal disco" at such times!
In fact he doesn't want to think about it at all!
