A woman's claim that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals' hormone-replacement drugs caused her breast cancer is now in the hands of a federal court jury.
Lawyers for Helene Rush of Little Rock said in closing arguments that neither she nor the doctors who prescribed the Premarin and Prempro drugs knew of the breast cancer risks.
Kathleen Peterson, an attorney for Rush, compared Wyeth to a squid that, when cornered, squirts ink to cloud the water and confuse its enemy.
"Wyeth seeks to be the squid in this case. Do not let them," Peterson said.
