Galencia buy Aspreva

Swiss pharmaceutical company Galencia said on Thursday it has agreed to purchase Victoria-based Aspreva Pharmaceuticals Corp. in a deal worth just over $900-million.

Galencia will offer $26 a share in the all-cash bid, a 16% premium over Aspreva's Wednesday's closing price on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

The bid for the Canadian pharmaceutical company, whose website says it develops drugs for "less common diseases," requires the support of two-thirds of shareholders and is expected to close by January 2008.

Hi,
The company is actually named GALENICA and it's more of a health holding than a pharma. It holds the biggest wholesaler in Switzerland, as well as a medical data company, a pharmacy chain, some pharma (minor) and a few other health-related activities.
