It's definitely a hoax. I tried this with an Energizer battery and a brown acid sprayed out of top... Luckily it sprayed away from my face and onto my desk.
I say, "luckily" because the acid discolored the wood varnish on my desk. Pretty scary... It's a hoax that's potentially *very* dangerous.

That's a hoax. Opening up a battery is usually dangerous business.
