Richard T. Clark, president and CEO of Merck, gets an 11 percent raise in his base salary to $1.8 million effective this month, according to a regulatory filing last week.
But in executive compensation, the base is just the start of things. Clark’s total compensation last year totaled $14.5 million, including stock and options grants, incentive plans and other sources ranging from $18,686 to cover commuting costs to $51,024 for a home-security system, as stated in the filings.
