Just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend television-watching marathon, PharmedOut and the National Women's Health Network announce the release of a 2- page guide to direct-to-consumer promotion of prescription drugs.
The factsheet addresses customer relationship marketing, product placement, and "condition branding," the association of an invented, renamed, or real disease with a specific drug. The newest, most-promoted drugs are the drugs about which the least is known about safety. Half of all drug withdrawals and black-box warnings (the FDA’s most severe warning about adverse effects) take place within the first two years a drug is on the market.
Resources for unbiased drug information are included.
