Actavis invited bidders to make offers this month for the Icelandic generic-drug company in an auction that could fetch as much as 6 billion euros ($7.8 billion), according to three people familiar with the situation.
Sanofi-Aventis, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. may be among potential buyers, said the people, who declined to be identified because the information isn’t public.
Actavis may draw bids as low as 3.5 billion euros, one of the people said.
