A Kano High Court presided by Hon. Justice Haliru Abdullahi has adjourned hearing into a case of libel brought against Pfizer Incorporated by one Dr. Idris Mohammed, who alleged that he was defamed by the content of the company's statement of defense in suit no K/233/2007.
Mohammed, a medical doctor, was mentioned severally in the statement of defense filed by Pfizer in suit K/233/2007 as a result of the 1996 Trovan clinical trial in the outbreak of meningitis epidemic in some northern states of Nigeria.
The case, in which the medical doctor is seeking a total sum of N120 million as damages against Pfizer, was adjourned to the 20th of April, 2009 to enable all the parties to the dispute return from the Easter break.
Dr Idris Mohammed, through his lawyer, Barrister Ado Balarabe Mahmoud, had earlier filed for damages claiming that in Pfizer's statement of defense, in suit no K/233/2007 involving the Attorney General of Kano State and the pharmaceutical giant, he was libeled by the content of the defense which was not only filed in court, but was also published on the company's website.

Did I just hear $120 million? That’s some whooping cool pepper like my people will say.
Let us see how he will prove that he did not ask Pfizer for those equipments as the burden of proof falls on him. Best of luck, Dr Idris, because you will really need plenty of it.
