Unfortunately the map is mostly accurate. However please be reassured that the sharks don't have lasers, the koala only eat gum leaves, Steve Irwin was only embarrassing, the Aborigines have good reason to be angry, our scorpions only have weak poison and our spiders are not giants although some have strong poisons.
The platypus is one of very few poisonous mammals but it's only a weak poison unlike the very strong poison of the blue ring octopus.
However our poisonous native animals keep away from people. The animals causing the most deaths in Australia are humans (about 300 homicides per year, much less per capita than the USA) and the European Honey Bee (about 10 deaths per year).
