There are still a few places open in the short course to be given by Dr Wally Smith and me at the Society for Medical Decision Making meeting on "Why Aren't Physicians' Practices Evidence-Based? -Cognitive and Environmental Challenges to Evidence-Based Practice." The course will include an updated analysis of physicians' failures to follow apparently evidence-based guidelines for depression in primary care, an updated discussion of external threats to evidence-based practice, and expanded time to discuss the best approaches to improving evidence-based practice.
The meeting is in Hollywood, CA, USA, 18-21 October, 2009. The main meeting page is here: http://www.smdm.org/2009meeting.shtml
Our specific course is described here: http://www.smdm.org/short_course_details.shtml#SC-FD5
Health Care Renewers are particularly welcome.
