PharmedOut - Annual Report

Dear Friends of PharmedOut,

We’ve been really busy and productive, as you’ll see from our annual report (http://freepdfhosting.com/d757f2ff88.pdf). We have good news on several fronts! We won a
competitive $20,000 grant from Georgetown to convene a conference - and Georgetown Medical School agreed to provide $5000 to fund a reception and medical student scholarships.

Prescription For Conflict: Should Industry Fund Continuing Medical Education? will be held in Washington on Friday, June 25th, 2010. It’s a hot subject, and we anticipate great interest. Of course you are all invited -we’ll send more information soon.

Between Georgetown’s support and individual contributions, we are solvent until summer, and we expect to make enough money from conference registrations to fund the project through the fall. We are also applying for grants and exploring alternative forms of funding.

We continue to serve as an important network for physicians, insiders, media, and policymakers, and we expect to publish several novel articles this year, including one that reviews litigation documents on how ghostwriting sold menopausal hormone therapy, another on promotional
messages in industry-funded review articles, and a national survey of family medicine residency policies regarding interactions with pharmaceutical reps.

Thank you so much for your support of PharmedOut. We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our friends, colleagues and donors.
