I've been carefully looking into this issue. There has been theoretical models that support this as a risk, as well as some work that indicates liver issues may cause poor metabolism of valdoxan, yet little data from the field.
We may simply just not be hearing about it. But it is something that needs to be watched carefully.

Valdoxan (agomelatine) antidepressant. Underlying structure is a naphthalene. Say goodbye to your liver.
(May have less SE's overall but the one you will get in high amounts is a doozy!)
