Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy of Swartz Creek, founded 35 years ago by Hagerman and his father, is growing sales at a 50% annual clip by focusing on the delivery of high-cost drugs and follow-up care to people with complex medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, severe rheumatoid arthritis and various cancers. "While that sounds like a pie-in-the-sky number," Hagerman said of the 4,000 new jobs by 2028, "we were able to convince the state that it's really not a leap, and it's very doable, and we're the guys that are going to do it."
