Takeda North America to cut hundreds of jobs in Chicago | Crain's Chicago Business

Takeda Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd. plans to cut nearly 1,600 U.S. jobs, including hundreds in the Chicago area, the company said Wednesday.

The Japanese drug maker said it will eliminate about 180 of the 840 jobs at Takeda Global Research & Development Center Inc., its research-and-development facility located primarily in Lake Forest, according to a spokeswoman.

About 300 more will be cut from the Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Inc. Deerfield headquarters, a spokeswoman said. The company employs about 5,000 workers in the U.S.

Not-so-new news. Ostensibly Takeda is building a new R&D facility in Lake Forest IL, but there haven't been any reports what is going on with that. You'd think they have money to burn with a bunch of autism quacks hyping the use of Lupron and Lupron Depot as a treatment, but who knows? Maybe the high yen is part of it...
