There's a new book coming out shortly that I think plays right in to all of this, "Proofiness, the Dark Side of Mathematical Deception" and I plan on reading up on this one myself. The word "proofiness" was coined by non other than Stephen Colbert of the Colbert report.
The best part of the movie was how they used real-life examples to make this a modern storyline. The movie never really came together and the original was much stronger.
