The top 3 on the list increased the last decade in the US due to "Lifers"--patients on psych meds based on the medical model of psychiatric med based care in the US for psychiatry.
Author Robert Whitaker discusses this in his new book, Anatomy of an Epidemic.
As the rise in mental health dx goes up, so does the medical disability from psych meds and inability to function at a typical level (work, for one), therefore creating a public sector dependent on tax funded programs and care.
This is going to get worse as children are being dx and medicated at younger ages in the US--due to heavy pharmaceutical industry influence to make money off of this population.
In the end, the industry fines increase --their profit margin for selling drugs and illegally promoting their use in kids, ie--Zyprexa ---and Seroquel--goes down, and the tax payer bill goes up.
Pharma industry controls the US, and the citizens have no idea of this "trickle down effect"...because they buy into the "doctor says it's OK" and "the drugs are researched by famous KOLS" BS.
Until America has a wake up call and looks at the big picture, this economic event will only get worse.
Say no to drug reps, say no to psych meds not approved for children, say no to Big Pharma running the US--stop tolerating the DOJ slaps on the wrist fines and demand prison time for CEOs such as Solomon, Brennan et al...these ppl KNOW what goes on behind the scenes before a drug is FDA approved, and the result of injury, disablement or death from drugs such as Seroquel or doctors rx'ing Lexapro to kids after being paid gifts...has got to stop.
The public must speak out to stop them, because so far the US gov is proving to be worthless...recoving monies via the DOJ fines is NOT enough.
