AstraZeneca workers to resume strike action - Manchester Evening News

Workers at pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca are to resume strike action in a long-running row over pensions after union talks with bosses collapsed.

The GMB union agreed to halt industrial action over pension scheme changes before a round of peace meetings began last week. After seven one-day strikes during September and October and a ban on overtime, employees had high hopes for a resolution.

But Allan Black, GMB national officer, said bosses at the Anglo-Swedish drugs giant 'had said nothing new' during three meetings. "It's a great shame but we have made the decision to re-instate the strikes," he said. "The company has said nothing new over the series of meetings - there has been no compromise over the pensions.
