COPENHAGEN - Novo Nordisk A/S says it has been subpoenaed by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts in an investigation of how the Danish pharmaceutical company markets three diabetes drugs.

Novo Nordisk says it will co-operate in the investigation, which involves "potential criminal offences relating to the company's marketing and promotion practices" for NovoLog, Levemir and Victoza.

The Copenhagen, Denmark-based company said Wednesday it "cannot determine or predict the outcome of this matter or assess the consequences thereof."

Novo Nordisk is the world's biggest maker of insulins.
