Drug firm GlaxoSmithKline will pay tuition fees of its trainees - Telegraph

GSK will pay fees of up to £27,000 for between 50 and 100 graduates on its training programmes. The company is the first major employer to announce it will pay tuition fees for its recruits.

Fees will triple for many undergraduates from next year, leading to fears that bright teenagers may not continue their education.

Ministers hope the GSK move will encourage other companies to follow suit and that paying tuition fees will become the norm for top employers including banks, legal practices and accountants.

The GSK programme will cost the firm about £3 million a year and trainees will have to stay at the company for several years after the fees have been repaid.
