According to a report in La Tribune, sanofi-aventis may cut up to 700 jobs as part of a reorganisation of its European operations. The newspaper indicated on Tuesday that as part of the strategic plan called Transforming, which was launched in 2009, the drugmaker will consolidate its activities into 10 European subsidiaries, compared with more than 30 at present. A sanofi-aventis spokesman confirmed the reorganisation, which according to La Tribune would see sanofi-aventis merge its activities in Benelux into a regional platform, while activities in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and the UK may also be reorganised.
