He also claims the manufacturer paid at least one other firm, whose identity has not been revealed, £5million not to make the drug perindopril.

He is spearheading legal action at the High Court with ten strategic health authorities and 147 primary care trusts to reclaim money the NHS is believed to have been overcharged between 2001 and 2007.

He reckons the NHS was charged £220million too much.
