Surgeons happy to be supported by companies behind hip implants fiasco

ARTIFICIAL hips produced by Johnson&Johnson have brought grief to thousands of patients.

But the giant surgical products company still remains in favour with the orthopaedic surgeons who implanted the failing implants.

The Australian Orthopaedic Association is holding its annual conference in New Zealand this week and one of the surgeon group's top sponsors, with ''platinum'' naming rights, is Johnson&Johnson.
