ASTRAZENECA says it will be weighing up its options at the end of the month for its vacant 69-acre site after it closed its doors in December.
The site – which employed 1,300 people – has closed but no one has been found to take it over. The only people now on site are those involved in maintaining it while a buyer is found.
In October, Chinese investors, who were looking to set up a pharmaceutical venture in the UK, had inspected the site as a potential base. However, these talks have not moved any closer to a deal being struck.
The site – which pumped £27m into the local economy – has been placed on the open market.
