Three Indian Drug Makers Rush To Launch Copy Of AstraZeneca's Seroquel In US


BANGALORE – Three Indian generic-drug makers Wednesday said they have commenced the U.S. launch of generic versions of AstraZeneca PLC's top-selling antipsychotic drug Seroquel, which chalked up $5.83 billion in revenue last year for the company.
Just days after AstraZeneca's patent in the U.S. expired Monday, India's Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (500124.BY), Lupin Ltd. (500257.BY) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (524715.BY) said they have received final U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to make and sell quetiapine fumarate tablets in 25 milligram, 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg, 300 mg and 400 mg doses.
Lupin said it has already started shipping the product.
