TEMECULA: Abbott Laboratories lays off 200 in region | Breaking News | PE.com - Press-Enterprise
Abbott Vascular, one of Temecula's largest private employers and a division of Abbott Laboratories, laid off approximately 200 employees Wednesday, Oct. 17, the company confirmed late Thursday evening.
The layoffs had been anticipated since earlier this year when Abbott dismissed 700 employees worldwide, 300 in Temecula. In total, Abbott eliminated 550 from plants across the globe Wednesday.
The majority of the positions eliminated Wednesday were in manufacturing, said company spokesman Jonathon Hamilton. Those who lost their jobs were given severance packages, outplacement assistance and the opportunity to apply for vacant company positions, he said.
