CafePharma - What's the story?

CafePharma seems to be blocking the word "PharmaGossip" on their bulletin boards.

Try it for youself:

Go to http://www.cafepharma.com and type in "pharmagossip" and see what happens......all that comes up is **********.

Is this censorship, Insider asks?

It's flattering in a way, that a little blog has caused this action. But who got CP to do this? If you know anything feel free to share with Insider : pharmagossip@hotmail.co.uk

I had my one and only post to Cafe Pharma removed by the administrator because it drew attention to Pharma Watch. Their bizarre explanation was that they did not want to promote a "commercial website" ... (as if Pharma Watch ever made a cent). The site just seems to be a platform for whingeing drug reps who hate their jobs, and a few blowhards telling them to work elsewhere.

If they were blocking it, I think they unblocked it. I just searched with no issues.

I searched Pharma Gossip and PharmaGossip. Went back 52 weeks.

No problems at all.

I just want to make another comment. I love this blog, but I also love Cafe Pharma. It's not just for complaining, I get better info there than I do from my own company.

There still is a problem with typing "PharmaGossip" in a post on CafePharma.

But ho hum!

I noticed they were blocking links to your site right around the time of the "cheerleader story." I tried to post a link to this site on CP, and I got the ****** a few weeks ago.

I orignially learned about your site on CP, and I enjoy viewing both. I guess CP considers you to be a competitive site, and does not want to draw attention to it.

Are you sure it’s just PharmaGossip's URL that’s being blocked?

It would not be on the grounds of diverging viewpoints. If anything CafePharma is more subversive of Big Pharma than even your breathtakingly irreverent blog.

OTOH, many websites with message forums routinely block URLs in message posts as a protection against malicious software.

Check it for yourself.

You can type in "Pharma Gossip" on a post but not "Pharmagossip"!!!

Its not to block URLs its just that one word!!

Crazy!!

The CP webmaster is a real tool. She threatened to sue me. I laughed my ass off.
