Hillbilly Lilly - Zyprexa: Mississippi say "we jest wan' wots owed"

Poor Lilly came under renewed attack Monday, as Mississippi became the fifth state to sue the Indianapolis drug maker over its antipsychotic Zyprexa.

Mississippi's activist attorney general, Jim Hood, who has a reputation for suing companies on behalf of consumers in high-profile issues, charged that Lilly promoted Zyprexa for unapproved uses, including for children.

The lawsuit by Hood seeks repayment from Lilly for more than $100 million that the state's Medicaid program for the poor has paid for the drug, plus reimbursement for diabetes-related injuries the drug caused some Medicaid users.

"We certainly don't want to bankrupt a company," Hood said, "but at the same time we have a duty to get what the state's owed."

"Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining"

Bad Press for Eli Lilly exploiting the downtrodden.

Mississippi is one of 5 states going after Eli Liily and they are seeking $30 million plus fraud charges.

Then there's the Zyprexa diabetes cases which are separate.
