Both patient and surgeons are recovering

A routine appendix operation in Belgrade went badly wrong when two surgeons started fighting and stormed from the operating theatre to settle their dispute outside.

Surgeon Dr Spasoje Radulovic was operating when his colleague Dr Dragan Vukanic entered and made a remark that started a quarrel, the anesthesiologist on duty says.

"At one moment Vukanic pulled the ear of the operating doctor, slapped him in the face and walked out," she said.

Dr Radulovic followed and an all-out fight ensued, resulting in bruises, a split lip, loose teeth and a fractured finger.

The operation was completed successfully by the attending assistant doctor.

Anyone who comes from or knows the Balkans well, would not be surprised with this case, regardless how bizzare it is to anyone else. Their centuries practiced motto: "First the knives come out then we talk", was in effect during this incident, too. This was also the case during the recent tragedy of the Balkans when they fought first, and then talked with the gun to thier heads.
Althought the Serbs were fingered out as the main culprits, in reality it was a case of who was more or less guilty amongst the few really nasty guys.
Hopefully these two docs will talk this over a bottle of Slivowitz and find a peaceful solution.
