A Spartanburg County jury ruled on March 22 that the company engaged in unfair or deceptive acts when they released a “Dear Doctor” letter on Nov. 10, 2003. The letter, sent to about 7,200 doctors in South Carolina, sought to minimize the risk of hyperglycemia — or high blood sugar — and diabetes.
