Top tip - Novozymes

Insider can ususally sniff out BS. This smells like the real deal! However, Insider takes no responsibility for this tip and currently has no shares.

Plectasin, a peptide derived from a fungus called Pseudoplectania nigrella (left), is as effective as penicillin and vancomycin in combating experimental peritonitis and pneumonia in mice, Dr. Michael Zasloff (Georgetown University Medical Centre) and colleagues reported in the Oct. 13 issue of Nature.

The peptide is one of a class of molecules called defensins, which have previously been found in plants and animals. Plectasin is the first to be isolated from a fungus.

Insider says: Score 10/10 for efficacy, now for safety and tolerabilty testing.
