AstraZeneca - 700 out of 3,000

AstraZeneca has axed 700 jobs at its plant in Cheshire.

The manufacturing jobs will be lost at the plant in Macclesfield, which employs around 2,500 people, over the next three years.

A spokesman for AstraZeneca the job losses were part of a drive to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of its supply and manufacturing operations.

The company recently announced 3,000 job losses worldwide over the next three years in a bid to increase the productivity of its manufacturing operations.
