A jury ruled in favor of a plaintiff who accused Wyeth of negligence when she got breast cancer after taking the company's hormone-replacement therapy.
U.S. District Court jurors here yesterday ruled in favor of Donna Scroggin, who sued the Madison, N.J., company in 2004. Jurors recommended Ms. Scroggin receive $2.75 million. The punitive phase of the trial is to begin March 3.
Jurors, who began deliberating last week, found that Wyeth inadequately warned Ms. Scroggin that its drugs Premarin and Prempro carried an increased risk of breast cancer.
